Eye Exam in Indianapolis: What to Expect Before, During, and After

Visiting an eye doctor for an eye exam at least once a year is an important part of staying healthy. Although the task sounds simple enough, and although a lot of people are aware of its importance, it’s surprising how many people don’t really get around to doing it. If you’re one of those who think “they don’t need it,” know that regular eye exams are critical for the detection of various other eye conditions, such as glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. The American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends people to start having a baseline eye examination at age 40. However, you don’t have to wait until you reach that age to have a comprehensive eye exam. Everyone needs to stick to a regular eye exam schedule, especially for those with risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or a family history of eye problems.
